In 2021 I began shooting a roll or a few shots of film for fun at weddings, and sending a few prints with my backup drives that I send out after delivering the online gallery as a thank you. In 2022, film became a major part of my workflow at weddings, when I discovered how film can make the best of strange or low lighting situations in ways that would require a lot of editing in digital. A huge part of this is that aside from each type of film having its own subtleties in its colour tones and character, film creates an image that is beautifully true to life.
For Michaila & Matt’s late spring evening wedding at the charming Cafe de l’horloge in Rigaud I used Kodak Gold 200 which really shines around 4pm to sunset transitioning to ilford 3200 for the evening.
Meant to be gold dust accoutrement within a full gallery of digital images, above is a sampling of the film accompaniment to their full wedding photo gallery.
